Zachary Vaupel M.D. is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in musculoskeletal disorders of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Vaupel is a Michigan native who earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Michigan. He attended medical school at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Vaupel completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. During his final year as an orthopaedic surgery resident, Dr. Vaupel had the honor of serving as Chief Resident of the William Beaumont Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He, then, completed a foot and ankle surgery fellowship at the world-renowned Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Vaupel is a member of two national organizations: the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS). He also belongs to several local organizations including the Michigan Orthopaedic Society, the Michigan State Medical Society, the Detroit Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Oakland County Medical Society.
Dr. Vaupel is very active academically. He participates in the education of medical students and residents at William Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Vaupel is also involved in orthopaedic research. His work on tendon health, joint replacement wear characteristics, total ankle replacements, and calcaneus fractures has won several awards and has been presented and published nationally.
Dr. Vaupel is accepting new patients and accepts most insurances.
